Ferryx Alternatives: AI Terminals Compared

Ferryx is an open source desktop terminal built for engineers who run AI coding agents. It’s MIT licensed, written in Rust on Tauri v2, and currently at v0.1.0-alpha. What Ferryx is

A headless Rust PTY daemon owns the pseudoterminals, so closing or reloading the GUI doesn’t kill running agent processes; a ring buffer with monotonic sequence numbers replays whatever output you missed when you reconnect. Managed worktrees get git isolation: each one lives in .orca-worktrees/wt-<slug> on a branch named orca/<workspace-id>/<slug>. Native WebView browser tabs can split beside terminal panes, and an authenticated mobile remote client renders sessions in a custom DOM grid, with no xterm.js dependency. Underneath, libghostty-vt parses terminal output and WGPU renders it on a native child surface, with no Electron involved. Builds ship as a macOS universal DMG, through the Microsoft Store on Windows, and as AppImage and .deb packages on Linux.
